Allegretti Architects Santa Fe, New Mexico
In 2007, an investment group asked Allegretti Architects to design a new retail development in a busy commercial area of Santa Fe. Crossroad Center is a mixed-use development sited at a busy intersection at the south side of Santa Fe. The architect married an economical metal building with a two-story atrium space. Retail uses are located on the lower level with office space on the second floor. An elevator assures accessibility.
Finally, Allegretti Architects incorporated some sustainable elements into this commercial project. The generous south-facing glass admits passive solar energy gains while broad roof overhangs limit overheating in summer. The building envelope incorporates substantial insulating performance. The mechanical system uses evaporative cooling in lieu of refrigerated air conditioning to save energy.
