This 2,000 square foot custom home on a wooded mountain lot captures views of Santa Fe and the Sandia and Ortiz mountain ranges.  The tightly budgeted contemporary design is influenced by diverse sources. from Mexican modernist architects to prairie and craftsman style traditions.

Interior features include rough but contemporary finishes:  Colored slab floors, butcher block counter-tops, and accents of handmade tile provide warmth.    Formica cabinets, flush doors, and imported hardware lend contemporary contrast. Interior walls are given brightly colored faux finishes set off by accents of natural wood.  Tightly spaced vigas span the large “sala” at the center of the house where tall glazing admits abundant natural light.  Outside, terraces and a redwood deck project into the pinon forest.
